Collision-Induced Dissociation at TRIUMF's Ion Trap for Atomic and Nuclear science

The performance of high-precision mass spectrometry radioactive isotopes can often be hindered by large amounts contamination, including molecular species, stemming from the production beam. In this paper, we report on development Collision-Induced Dissociation (CID) as a means background reduction for experiments at TRIUMF's Ion Trap Atomic and Nuclear science (TITAN). This study was conducted to characterize quality purity ion beams contaminants allow measurements done further nuclear stability. is first demonstration CID an ISOL-type beam facility, it shown that contamination reduced up order magnitude.
